What the site is
HotMovs (hotmovs.com and hotmovs.tube) is a sister site of HDZog, with the same page structure, the same JW Player and a different catalogue. Clips live at /videos/<id>/<slug>/. Its pages carry an og:url tag that is written without the https scheme, which most tools would reject.
Are subtitles available?
The site has none. Subtitles are generated and translated by the extension.
How to use the extension on this site
- Install the extension and sign in with your license key.
- Open the video page and start playing.
- Pick the subtitle language, then press the subtitle badge on the player.
- Open a clip and press play. The numeric id in the address, for example 13168709, is the key.
- The page's og:url is missing the scheme. The extension adds the scheme before comparing it with the address, so the check passes on valid clips.
- The film is the video element of the JW Player in the main player block. In our measurement two clips of about 420 and 360 seconds both played and were not flagged as ads.
- Elements under /static/da/ and the short previews ending in _tr.mp4 are skipped as ads.
- A click on a related clip reloads the page; our measurement saw the page state reset, so a new session starts every time.
- An embedded copy at /embed/<id>/ gets the same key as the clip page.
Good to know
- Supported: the key and the film were identified on real pages. The test used the adapter code in the live page, not the whole extension with a license, so no subtitle line was seen and the site is not Verified.
- No pre-roll ad appeared in 24 seconds, so ad handling on this site was checked on saved pages only.
- hotmovs.tube answered with the same layout as hotmovs.com.
Subtitle languages
Choose the target language in the extension: Vietnamese, Indonesian, Spanish and English are the main ones, and the translation API also supports Chinese, Korean, Thai, Portuguese, Japanese, Russian, French, German, Hindi, Arabic and Turkish.
FAQ
What is the problem with the og:url?
It lacks https:// at the start, so a strict comparison would fail. The adapter fixes it first.
How long were the clips you tried?
Two clips of roughly six and seven minutes. Both were recognised as the film.
Does it share the key with HDZog?
No. Each site has its own adapter and its own key prefix, even though the layout is shared.
Is the status final?
It is Supported. Verified needs a subtitle line seen with the complete extension.
Which target languages can I use?
Any the translation service supports, such as Vietnamese, Indonesian, Spanish and English.
