About MiraiSub
MiraiSub is a browser extension that adds AI-generated subtitles to the video you are watching, in the language you choose. This page explains what it does, how it works and how to reach us.
What MiraiSub does
You open a video page, press play, and the extension shows subtitles over the player. The subtitles are generated from the audio of that video, so they do not depend on whether the website offers any.
You choose the target language from more than a dozen: English, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Thai, German, French, Russian, Hindi, Arabic and Turkish.
How it works
There are two steps. Speech recognition turns the audio into timed text in the original language, then a large language model (LLM) translates that text into your language. The result comes back as short subtitle cues with exact start and end times, and the extension draws them on top of the page you are on.
A subtitle already made for the same video is cached and reused for other viewers, so a popular video can start without a wait.
What MiraiSub does not do
MiraiSub does not host videos, does not link to videos and does not offer downloads. It cannot play protected DRM content.
Subtitles are produced by AI and can contain mistakes, especially with background noise, slang or overlapping voices. Treat them as an aid, not as a word-for-word transcript.

MiraiSub is developed and operated by Kuro (a pseudonym) as an independent project.
MiraiSub is an independent software project for people who want to follow video in a language they do not speak. Content owners can ask us to remove subtitles tied to their content through the contact below. The Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service describe how data is handled.
Contact
To ask a question, report a billing problem, request the removal of subtitles tied to your content or make a privacy request, use the report form: no account or extension is needed. The same form takes reports of wrong subtitles, sites that do not work and requests for a new site.
